I have been trying to get intrepid installed on a powerbook g4. I had gutsy installed already and just wanted to upgrade. I was able to get 8.1 installed a couple of times but after each install it failed to boot. I am guessing that it was trying to boot from the wrong partition. Anyway, I can nolonger bring up the command prompt using ctrl+alt F2 (cdrom bugfix). It just doesn't work. Any ideas on why this might be happening? Iam using the alternate-ppc install cd.

[edit]
the ctrl-alt-F2 andF1 dims and brightens screen but does not bring up a second terminal.
