Hi,
My apologies first of all if I have missed something but I am new to Linux.
I am trying to install Ubuntu 8.10 (Desktop) on a fairly old machine. (Abit AT7-MAX2 M/B, AMD Athlon 2500+, 1.5Gb RAM, Maxtor 200Gb SATA disk)
It will boot from the Live CD no problem, and appears to detect my hard drive OK.
However, when I try to install to the hard drive (Using the entire disk and wiping existing partitions) I get an error when it tries to allocate space on the disc - 'The creation of swap space in partition #5 of SCSI2 (0,0,0) (sda) failed.' :(
I am using Guided partitioning, and after an earlier attempt there are no patitions currently on the disc.
The drive is connected to a HighPoint RAID controller (on-board)
If I run GParted from the Live CD it does not detect the drive.
Any help much appreciated.
Thankyou.
