View Full Version : [ubuntu] Does the order in which root, swap and home are partitioned matter?

That's the order I had it in when I did my recent manual update from 32 bit to 64 bit. Should root and swap be adjacent? Since I'm not doing graphically intensive work it won't matter, right?

Also, out of curiosity (since when I installed all I had to deal with was primary), what's the difference between a primary and logical partition?

You can only have 4 primary partitions. So if you where wanting more then you could create a extended paritition and have as many logical partitions within the extended partition as you like.
