View Full Version : [ubuntu] Fighting with install help

Hello i just found out about ubuntu and i have a invalid windows xp so i downloaded it to my pc compaq evo 510 1024 hdd ram 40g hard dive pent 4. is ubuntu installed in conjunction with windows xp or is it a stand alone cause i down loaded the software and burned to a cd this loaded the dist and downloaded ubuntu but it still loaded when i rebooted to xp so i installed windows xp and downloaded the ubuntu software to my pc installed an guess what nothing its still xp but now i have a added problem when i boot my pc it gives me a option of windows xp or ubuntu to load and when i select ubuntu it dose not load fully so i have to reboot and when i load xp its so sad im going bald grin. i have tried to wipe my pc clean and now that wong happen.

I'm afraid I can't follow:
1. What you've done.
2. What you want to do.

Try staring again. But this time, use clear language, and divide the prose into multiple short paragraphs.

It sounds like:
You downloaded and burned an Ubuntu CD
You tried to install it within Windows (using Wubi)
The new Wubi install doesn't work
You want to wipe Windows

If the above are true:
Boot from the CD (i.e. bypassing Windows)
Install Ubuntu to entire HD.
