What is your favorite architecture, and why?

I'm not a hardware person, but I like PowerPC and SPARC. PowerPC because you do not need 64-bit apps (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PowerPC#Operating_systems) to get the benefits of 64-bit technology, and SPARC because it is an open architecture that anyone can implement (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SPARC#Open_source_implementations).

The only assembly I've worked with is Z80 for my TI-84+ SE calculator. I crashed my calculator and wiped my RAM. :)

They all went downhill after Z80a. Although the 68k was pretty good at the time.

My friend has a TI-89 Titanium with a Moto 68k in it. It's really quite nice, but I'd rather spend the $150 on a calculator from HP that has an SD slot and built-in C++ capabilities (not sure if it's compiled or interpreted). My 84+ SE was $118 at Wal-Mart. I insisted on a TI graphing calculator because of TI-BASIC, because I had absolutely no experience with C++ at the time.
