I have an ATI card and I experience flickering whenever an OpenGL object like a movie or game is rendered with Compiz enabled. There is a fairly dated report of the problem here (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/148110), but I was wondering what the status of this bug is. I really like Compiz, but with this bug it is just too cumbersome. Will this bug ever be fixed, or is it ATI's fault? Are there any workarounds?

Thanks in advance?

I am wondering the same thing. I have:

$ fglrxinfo
display: :0.0 screen: 0
OpenGL vendor string: ATI Technologies Inc.
OpenGL renderer string: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3400 Series
OpenGL version string: 2.1.8087 Release

and it happens to me, too.
