I'm trying to install ubuntu linux 8.10 on a dell desktop with windows xp (rather old, it came without a cd burner or dvd reader), but when I try and boot from the disk when the language selection pops up, the keyboard or mouse doesn't respond, and I can't do anything after that. Either that or the process freezes, I'm not too sure. I'm pretty sure it's not the disk problem, because I tried running it on another dell pc and it worked perfectly, and I even ran the cd check and it came out alright. Anybody have any suggestions? Thanks a lot.

Do you have enough RAM to boot the LiveCD?

If not, you can try Xubuntu.

Arg, twas a stupid mistake. I switched my usb keyboard with a ps/2 keyboard and it was able to respond. Everything should be fine for now, thanks!
