View Full Version : Evidence that Ubuntu was gifted to us by Aliens

One of my guilty pleasures on the net is wading through countless sites with spurious theories that the USA President and the Queen of England are Lizards or that the Yeti exists because:

"my mate Bob said that his friends second cousin (twice removed) knew a bloke whose sister works with a guy from Iceland who has seen one".

I did come across a site that claimed that the Earth was an "alien hard drive" holding vital information that the alien race could query (SQL perhaps :)).
He also went on to say that by screwing up the planet we are similar to a computer virus and one day the aliens will come back with an "antiviral solution" 8-[

Toying with this idea, I wondered what sort of OS the aliens would have installed to run Earth 1.0 and I think I have found it!

Searching through Synaptic I happen upon a package called:
"boot-cd backup - tools to backup a Debian or alien Linux installation"8-[

"Alien Linux Installations!!!"

Could this be that the aliens are running Ubuntu on Earth?
Could this be the ultimate testament to the server edition? :P

Now I am not one to scaremonger BUT if this is the case how long before someone opens a terminal:

Earth:-$ sudo apt-get update
Earth:-$ sudo apt-get remove human
Earth:-$ sudo apt-get autoremove
Earth:-$ sudo apt-get purge
Earth:-$ sudo apt-get grrr

Have you grrr'd today?

Oh no! there's a knock at the door and the Men in Black are here!!!

The Truth is now out there!

That got me smiling on an otherwise 'no reason to smile' day...

Thanks :)

I was half-expecting a picture of a crop circle that resembled the Ubuntu logo.

This does not seem even slightly insane.

Couldn't we just wrap the earth in tinfoil to block the signal?

How about:

Earth:-$ <Snipped DANGEROUS AND MALICIOUS Alien commands>

With all of the reported space debris we have nothing to worry about. Their ships will get peppered with particles and break apart on entry.

The technological advances would most likely be weapons based, so that the war-mongers might might one another.

Then, state that they don't know much of anything later...

This, you see, is what is most desired. Totalitarianism would be played with, much like a child's toy...

These are robots, not aliens.

Anyway, I, for one, welcome our new Cylon overlords!

well i assume that if they were going to kill us, we would already be dead

they are more likely to run this command

sudo mv human slave-race

They're not from here. Thus, they're aliens.

(And they're organic, even though in No Exit last night Cavil said ... oh, wait, spoiler city there. :D )

There are worse commands they could run:

mkfs.nonhuman /dev/planet

Just a reminder, please do not post malicious commands here on UF. To learn about our stance on these commands, there is a link in my sig. I have edited several posts in this thread, now you know, please consider not doing it again. Thanks.

FYI, we have been banning users spreading these commands. I do not think there was any bad intention here.

Now I know why the Ubuntu logo always seemed like a UFO to me and Ubuntu was always so hypnotising.. :)

Sorry 'bout that. :(

Not sure I want to tell people how to forkbomb the whole planet anyway.

No problem, I supposed people in this thread were not aware of our history :)

Queen of England

I feel compelled to remind you that the Queen is Queen of the Commonwealth, not just the part of the UK that is England.

Why would a space faring alien race use Ubuntu when they would have to have better? Nah Ubuntu is a human toy. :) Mac's are alien, A attempt to get us to follow in their foot steps when it comes to OS's :p

Alright... There are no such things as aliens. Linux was actually started by
a fat, bearded college guy from Boston. Mark Shuttleworth is really from South Africa
and not the planet Muh-reeeeeeeeeeeeeekinovatch-nivov Twelve.
Oh, and... you need to get out more often.
