I have an Asus M2NPV-VM GF6150 AM2 motherboard in my home server.

This MB has onboard giga ethernet, video, etc. and is terrific for its purpose.

Ubuntu 6.06 and 7.1 install correctly on this motherboard and 7.1 reminds me to install the NVidea drivers for best performance.

If I try to install 8.04LTS, the installation dies - hence my use of 7.1

Unfortunately, I just tried to allow an upgrade to 8.04 from the upgrade/package manager.

Choke and die. This resulted in a machine which didin't correctly run all of the updates and on which dpkg --configure -a still wouldn't correctly update everyting.

As a result, the machine boots into a screen without title bar, buttons or anything useful. The machine is essentially hosed.

I'm presently reinstalling 7.1 from disk, but posting this as a warning/bug report.
