Hello friends: My Ubuntu 8.04 CD installed fine on my other computer, but why is it going to the 'run live' option of the install even when I choose to actually install. It still just boots live. This computer is a pentium 4 with MSI motherboard and 512M of ram. This is not mentionned on the faq that I could find. Any help would be famous. Thanks

I've noticed that the Install option from the boot menu doesn't always work on some systems... You're better booting into the live cd and installing from the actual desktop...

Or using the Alternate CD if you want a text-only installer.

Thanks for the replies. I didn't notice the install icon on the desktop of 8.04. But in desperation I did download the previous version of Ubuntu - 7.10, and it installed great (interestingly from the install icon on the desktop of a live session as you mention). So far so good.
Thanks again
