View Full Version : [kubuntu] How do I replace default K Menu Icon / Button?

February 11th, 2009, 02:52 PM

I have worked with Ubuntu & Gnome DE. I am a newbie to KDE. I am using Kubuntu 9.04 alpha with KDE 4.2. I want to know how can I change the default menu icon or button. When I googled I found kbfx option but it is not ready for KDE 4.2. Is there any way to change the icon?

Thanks in advance.

Well, I'm on 8.10 + kde 4.2 here, and I changed the default menu for Lancelot. You can add it the widget selection, and configure it to choose between 3 pre-loaded icons or a custom one.

Give it a try, I find it easier to work with than the normal "menu".

Good luck.

(updating this thread with new advice because it came up near the top of a google search)

This can now be done (without resorting to Lancelot) by right-clicking the KMenu icon, and selecting Application Launcher Settings. The option to change the icon appears in the "General" settings tab.

FYI, there is a Kubuntu-ized version of the KMenu icon in the default icon folder - start typing "kubuntu" into the search box and you'll see it.
