I'm looking for something under £100 for general internet browsing that isn't as big as a 15" laptop! Can anyone recommend something I can use for light web browsing that is under £100? An internet tablet of some sort?

Any WAP-enabled mobile phone?

The problem with WAP phones is that they have hefty fees which I am not prepared to pay. So something Wi-Fi enabled...

So you want something small, portable, wi-fi enabled and subscription-free for less than £100? You don't ask for much do you ...

If you can save up or can stretch your budget, basic netbooks are about £200 and if you bought second-hand from ebay you might get one for £150 if you're lucky.

How are the Nokia internet tablets? Are they any good? One I've found (N800) is about £120 which could be ok...

Yeah, I'd point you to a Nokia N800. I have one myself and it's perfect to check email, read RSS feeds, a few ebooks, and very sleek portable web browsing around the house, in the kitchen, in the morning, under the covers :P

You'll probably find them even cheaper than that, if you look carefully.

another +1 for the nokia n800. the price is dropping currently as a new model is due soon (N900?). there is also the N810 which has advantages and disadvantages vs the N800.

3 Skype phone!
It costs under £40, connects very nicely over bluetooth (google around for the scripts and howto).
I get the internet add-on for the phone which is £5 per month, and unlike their 'mobile broad band' add-on allows you a 2gig download allowance per month!

I've been using my skypehpone for the internet for over a year with Ubuntu Hardy and apart from the occasional connection drop (fixed by ping www.blahblahblah.co.uk -i 8 ) works perfectly!

Aside from it being a great phone with skype it enable me to connect at 50Kps.

If anyone would like more info about the bluetooth dial up please feel free to contact me with a private message

Once the N900 comes out, I'd look around for a used N810. The built in keyboard is very nice and it is smaller/slimmer than the N800.
