really, what would ever posess a dev to turn off the /proc/config.gz kernel option????????????????????????
ubuntu user comes up to me on irc saying "my sounds broken" i go through things with him, and everything is pointing at a kernel module problem.
i ask him to stat /proc/config.gz.
config.gz is useful to make upgrade kernel clones of your running (and functionally bootable kernel)
i do not use ubuntu, because i run linux from scratch.
my problem is i want to help these kids build kernels, but cant because the devs say no to it. so whats to do, wait for a repo update to fix the buggy 2.6.27 update?
