Hi all,

I have a problem which I'm sure is common to others, so I hope somebody else already solved it. I work on different (all kubuntu) machines, and I would like to have an easy way to synchronize things like the addressbook, calendar, todos, knotes, bookmarks, etc. I can set up a server if necessary. I don't care of palm integration as I don't have one. All I want is to be able to add an email address at home, and find it back at work, for example. Before setting up an svn repo I thought of trying here..

Thanks for your help!!! :p

Hi,

Take a look at Kontact/Kmail, they have all the functions you mention.

Regards, Ellgor.

I'm using that, I'm only aware of some badly documented functionality for kaddressbook, whose resource file can for example be on a LDAP server, or a remote machine. I was hoping for something more general.

Take a look at Citadel. It is probably overkill but it is a sinch to install with their easyinstall script. You could access it from you house through it's web feature and add the contact information. It works well with kontact.

Update 2011: with kontact 4.4.10 I can seamlessly share a calendar among different machines, still no success with the addressbook.

Google Chrome/Chromium also has sync. Addressbook and calendar could maybe be synced with Ubuntu One or Dropbox.
