Hi!
When I boot my Acer TravelMate 6592 using Ubuntu 8.10 CD, I get the first menu with options like (not the exact words) "Try Ubuntu without install", "Install Ubuntu", "Check CD", "Memory check", etc.
When I choose the first "Try Ubuntu..." the computer runs for a while, then the screen goes black and nothing happens. Esc, Ctrl-Alt-Del, pressing whatever key, nothing can make it run again. I have to press the start button for 10 sec and then reboot to be able to continue (and booting Windows...:( )
I've done the following:
- Check CD for errors - PASS
- Check MD5 checksum on CD - PASS (that is, I ran md5sum on every file listed in md5sum.txt in CD root and compared with the sum in md5sum.txt)
- Memory check - PASS
- Downloaded again and burned another CD
I have 2.2GHz, 2GB RAM, that should do I think.
So what's the problem? I've given this approx. 2 days soon, I'm about to abandon Ubuntu. Sure I could try the Install option, but I would like to have it run from CD first.
