Hi all... have just burned an ISO to CD so I can run unbuntu live before installing it as 2nd OS.

Please bare in mind I've NEVER used Linux in any shape or form yet....
The disc I have does boot and I get as far as the unbuntu screen with the progress bar, but after alittle while on that bar I get a message telling me something about the graphics isn't right, tells me to check http://wiki.X.Org but I can't find a thing there that looks like it's to do with my problem....

any help will be greatly appreciated

:)

Is the message about a graphics card not being compatible. Also check the disc you burnt has actually burnt ok.

If I might also make another suggestion, you could try posting in the gnome support area (if you already haven't) as your topic is more likely to get noticed in there.

Hope you find a solution.

It was a bunk install disk. I have a few of those. They all do the same thing. Unlike a music CD, the install disk for a whole OS is VERY picky. Try burning it again at lower speeds.

Thank you!

In the process of burning a new one now at 10x instead of 48!

Does it make a difference if you write to cdr instead of cdrw? because nero wouldn't let me use a cdr! :???:

I can honesty say I have never tried with a CDrw.

I find this program works best for me:
