HELP
I installed Ubuntu on my Laptop and I love it. As it was doing an update my laptop died and now i get an error when I try to install or fix anything.
the MAIN message I get is
E:The package compiz-fuision-plugin-main needs to be reinstalled,but I can't find and archive for it.
E:Internal errror opening cache(1). Please report.
I get this when I attempt to run Synaptic Package manager or when I try to fix it from the boot menu thing. The second error is:
Could not open
"example.deb"
The package might be corrupted or you are not allowed to open the file.
Check the permissions of the file.

I am administrator
I installed from a USB drive and when I try to reinstall I get "missing operating system" error and nothing will run off of it because of the package error
I'm new to Ubuntu so please don't be extremely vague
programs work fine but I have no way to install new programs
