Afternoon.
Just upgraded from 8.04 to 8.10 using "update-manager -d", ran through all the instructions, then rebooted the machine.
Now whenever Ubuntu boots it just boots into the terminal. No graphical interface whatsoever.
Whenever I try and run anything from the terminal (gparted, gedit, or whatever) it just displays the error "Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display...and just punts me back to the command line.:?
If anyone can help me it'd be much appreciated. And if you do know please speak slowly to me...
