About half way through the install I get a error message saying that a share file can not be installed. And it also says that there is a problem reading the DVD. It has done this three times.

Can I install it from the web? I got the DVD from Barns and Noble "The Official Ubungu Book" Is there some way to make the DVD install?

It runs real slow from the DVD.

Sounds like there is something wrong with the DVD? What's the spec of your machine? You can always download the CD and install it from there if you wish.

Try cleaning the CD/DVD. I ran into the same thing today where the LTS cd could not be read by the drive.
