I'm very new to ubuntU en xubuntu 8.10 , Trying to install on toshiba 750 tecra grom CD.

After booting the Cd it shows the menue then install .... should be entered acpi=force ...

it immediatly drops to initramfs

and allows me to input that line if I need to enter it. I guess the machines booter can not be used.
but how do I tell this yo the first install CD (xubuntu is the goal (160mb mem)

as I enter it on the next line and hit enter : the install runs blocked not finding any disk ....
it occurs as well when I use the demo ;)

Any ideas help ?

thanks in advance

Can you download the Xubuntu alternate install disk and use it instead? To install Ubuntu from the Live CD, 384mb RAM is the minimum requirement; to install Ubuntu from the alternate CD, 256 mb is the minimum requirement. For Xubuntu, IIRC, it takes 192mb RAM to install from its Live CD (although 256mb is recommended); and for the Xubuntu alternate, 64mb (I think) to install.
