My wireless works out of the box in Ubuntu desktop edition. Now I want to try the command line system coming with the alternate cd. The first thing I want to do after the installation is to get the network. How can I get the wireless to work from there? Are the drivers already contained in the cd?

The alternate CD installs the same system as the Live CD, It just uses the debian-installer instead of ubiquity from the desktop.

If you are wanting to install Ubuntu without a gui, you want Ubuntu server. to get wireless going with it, there is a really good howto here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=3501096#post3501096.
