I am a newer user and have installed Unbuntu 8.10 inside XP on a Dell 4100, Toshiba 7020CT, Dell CPX, a old Sony laptop without many problems that the forum didn't help me fix. I now have 8.10 loaded on a Dell C400 with a 1.2 Processor, 768 mb of ram and 30g harddrive. After logging in the screen just freezes. I tried to use the fix in this thread without success.

Any other ideas? If drop back to Unbuntu 8.04 would it possibly work? This is a great operating system and I would really like to have it on the C400.
