Dapper didn't have one, did it, what about the current versions?

If there ain't such a thing, I think it would make a lot of sense to have.

I'm with you on this, perhaps it could be built into the update notifications somehow.

Why don't you submit it to Brainstorm.

They're posted on the Ubuntu website under "News". Here's the end of life notice for 7.04 as an example...

My thoughts exactly, but doesn't the Update Manager alert you on upgrades to next version?

I think what the OP meant was that users could get a reminder when their Ubuntu version has reached EoL

Dapper is still supported until June as far as I know.

yeah, update manager should update and say that you will no longer be receiving updates for X version of ubuntu, and to continue receiving updates, you need to upgrade to version Y, etc
