This is after installing the proprietary Nvidia (binary) driver, ver. 180.22. The Nvidia driver is working. I have the Nvidia tool.

I cannot find the solution although I've googled and searched the forums.

I HATE that K/Ubuntu doesn't use or have alsa-conf files. No alsa configuration utility?!? Are you kidding me?!?

So, how does one restore sound? Some sound module isn't being loaded or something? What's going on?!?

I don't get how a VIDEO driver totally disables sound! C'mon, Ubuntu, this is pathetic. Actually, that is not the complaint. The complaint is that there is no indication of what to do or any utility or troubleshooting procedures for this predicament. My sound card is detected. The sound utility, kmix, displays the equalizer and shows it as a being an Audigy 2 ZS sound card using a SB0350 driver and that is correct.

But, I used to have way more equalizer settings so I know something was uninstalled and/or removed.
