View Full Version : Upgrade an Old PC to the Max.

Hi there I have old pc I use it for everyday usuage and some gaming. Its an AOpen AX45-V, my problem is I don't know what really the max video card I can put on it. Right now it has a Radeon 9800 pro(128 mb version) on my motherboard and my motherboard is an AGP 4X not 8X. My question is there anything better than that or do I have best is out there for a AGP 4X. I know a 256 mb video card would be waste on mine.

Someone correct me if i'm wrong, but don't AGP 8x cards drop down to 4x when used in a 4x motherboard?

No, you can put a 4x in an 8x slot but not the other way around.
