I believe you are very confused, This is Linux, you don't have to pay any licensing fees if you download it your self.

FYI-It's packages are quite dated

http://distrowatch.com:80/table.php?distribution=linuxxp

(Note for instance it only has the Nvidia 100.** driver...and now we're at 180.**)

Their website says it has a 30 day trial period...their "buy" page won't load for me though.

FYI-All Linux XP does is run Windows exes via Wine-the same as any free Linux distro, according to Wiki. If this info is right-I'd save your money.

If it's Linux you can't buy a license. You can buy a CD with Linux on it, but you cannot purchase a license. You have an automatic right to use Linux without having to pay money.

Go to their russian site linked from distrowatch and translate from google, looks like 50 dollars or thereabouts.

Although it looks as it is on its last legs.

I'm about 80% sure that the Linux XP project is dead. I don't think you could pay for your license after the 30-day trial if you tried.

Of course I could also be wrong.

hmmm... linux xp huh? its kinda cool that it has wine by default, but personally im using ubuntu to get away from winxp. as of right now i have no need to use windows software in ubuntu, as im still trying to make the transition. im sure linux xp will have its ups and downs, same as everything else.

It's funny they call it "Linux XP", when the flat indexed menu and graphics etc are all borrowed from Vista.

after i first started using ubuntu (which really wasnt that long ago) i liked the way it looked so much that i downloaded a theme to make winxp look like it.

When it started it had an XP theme. Its warmed over Fedora. I discourage people from buying any Linux unless it offers something the others don't. And I have not found any yet. And the ones I have tried like Corel Linux, Xandros. and Freespire had community versions and none of them were as good as Ubuntu and Linux Mint is better then all of them for someone who wants something like Windows.

Linux XP Desktop 2008 has a 30-days trial period for an estimation of comfort at work with our system and to make a decision on its use.

After a trial period of 30 day's you must register if you want to continue to work with system. You can get the Linux XP Desktop license and coupons on paid technical support in ours Internet-shops.

lol at the lack of translation efforts involved in converting this mess to english! Ours Internet-shops? Trial period of 30 day's

The whole thing looks phishy to me.

I really don't see the point in buying any linux distro for home desktop use since there really isn't any that exist that offer anything worthwhile paying money for.

When I first saw th post I couldn't find a valid link to Linux Xp. Just because the OP has over 100 post doesn't mean he can't be confused about licensing.

Check his posting history, he seems to be having problems getting programs to work with wine. If all his research turned up was Linux XP, then maybe we should point him towards the offerings from Crossover (http://www.codeweavers.com/products/).

Back when I thought I still needed Microsoft programs to get my work done I used Crossover Office quite a bit and I never had a problem with it. At that time I had just finished participating in a closed beta test for Xandros and Crossover office was included in Version 1.

The question mark implied otherwise.
