Yesterday, I've did a new install of Ubuntu 8.10 on my laptop. Today I wanted to install thunderbird, samba server configuration, envy, and a lot more programs. But none of the packages I've mention above were installable from the Synaptic Package Manager. When I try it with sudo apt-get install int the terminal, I can install the packages.
I've checked my repositories and settings, they all looked fine to my. I even compared it with Ubuntu on my desktop. The packages who are not installable on my laptop, are installable on my desktop. When I look at the bottom of the screen of Synaptic the number of listed packages are also almost the same.
But when I search for Samba on my laptop i get this:

and on my desktop I get this:
http://i44.tinypic.com/c48pt.png
How can I resolve this problem?
Thanks
