When I log on to my gutsy xubuntu system, the login screen disappears, I briefly see a light blue field, then a slightly darker blue field with the white mouse pointer, and that's it. I had been editing the gdm conf files to try to get resumable vnc sessions working (no luck, though it used to work) and I am afraid that this may be related. I tried to undo those gdm.conf changes, I even tried removing the file and using apt to reinstall, but I could not get apt to replace the config files with fresh ones for some reason. Anyway, I am stuck here now with no desktop. If anyone has any advice, or wants to see the output of any log files to help me troubleshoot, please let me know.
Thanks!
