Im changing some FreeBSD servers to Ubuntu Server 8.1 and am currently working on building out a test server. So far itś been a painless experience. Ive been working on PC Unixen since the Microsoft Xenix days and this has been by far the smoothest install. I added the X libraries and KDE and itś worked great, except for one thing.

I dont know if I messed up on the initial Ubuntu keyboard set up (although it did confirm a US-104 keyboard) but some of my keys are messed up.

For instance, the apostrophe key doesnt do anything unless you hit it twice, in which case it produces what appears to be a back tick. The double quote (uppercase apostrophe key) produces this: but, again, only after two keypresses.

There are some other weirdnesses too, like the numeric keypadś cursor keys not working.

Any clues? Any fixes?

Thanks for any help.

Okay, I fixed part of this problem with "setxbmap us". But I still can't get the cursor keys on the numeric keypad to work.

Any ideas?
