Please Help play dvd & Divx

Dear friends i am newly using ubundu 8.04 LTS Desktop for how to play dvd's movie cd's divx movies i don't have internet connections any offline packages in internet how to install pls help me

Personally mate, here's what I'd do.

1. Get the internet set up for your ubuntu, it's practically useless with out it.

2. Or if you have access to internet on a computer, download the files for VLC player, burn it to a disc and install on ubuntu.

print out the guide if you have to..The initial step of getting the Medibuntu repository might be better followed here

If you follow the guide it probably only takes an hour on an average internet connection but it will give you everything you need including those things necessary when you get your own internet connection..Post back when you can..Best to you..

you will also need libdvdcss2 to play dvds

I second the VLC download. It has so many codecs pre-installed, it's very handy.
