View Full Version : [ubuntu] Lock X Resolution/Settings

Apologies if this is already answered, I've done some searches and found some similar items but nothing exact.

My situiation is that I have a PC running a mythtv frontend. The only display on this PC is a LG HD Plasma screen. This PC is always on, but the display is not always on. Due to other services, sometimes I restart X or the PC during the day.

The problem arising from this is that if X restarts while the TV is powered off, it boots up into that failsafe X thing.

What I want to do is _both_ of the following.
1. Disable this failsafe thing completely.
2. Lock my X settings to what they are currently (resolution, modelines, etc)

I've tried several things in the past but nothing works past a reboot with the display off, it all gets overwritten.
