can i charge my PC backup.tgz to the laptop?

hey guys, (or girls)haha

i was wondering if i can charge the entire backup.tgz i did to my PC (Pentium4, Intel 3.0 Ghz, ATI 128MB on board, etc) to my laptop (sony vaio VGN-NR398D)
just that i have the PC totaly customized and the laptop is new and like what i have in the PC. can i some how do that,
PLEASE, explain yourself as for a dummie... i guess i am.

You shouldn't have to many problems, unless your Sony has some bleeding edge hardware that isn't supported yet.
