i want to install Ubuntu server 8.04 onto a CDROm-less machine .
ive made a bootbale USB stick using unetbootin and the server iso and i can boot, But it asks for a CDROm path and i cant find a way to proceed beyond that point.

Is it possible ?

Would the request for cd-ROM have anything to do with Synaptics repository settings?
I've never done a server install, so I don't know the entire process, but I do know that when you install debian, it lists the install CDs as a resource in sources.list
Maybe check that?

its not an install from liveCD, so dont see how to stop it asking for a CD . Im not sure if all it wants is a path or its going to look for stuff, which I can then tell it to ignore , but putting in a path to another stick seems not to work
