Somehow I thought I'd score higher. I have suspicions about the geekiness of the person who wrote that test. No mention of interactive fiction, and not nearly enough coverage of Linux or FOSS culture.

And I feel sorry for anyone over 30 who doesn't get at least 25%.

I wonder tough, what does the fact you watch anime have to do with you being a geek? It was a question in the test, and offcourse I ticked it (and I would have ticked the "very much" box as well if it would have been there :lolflag: ). But I don't see how it makes me a geek

it's a little like having something in your teeth, or having toilet paper stuck to your foot. you're always the last to know.

And if you are a geek or not is not an objective fact, it depends on your point of view. So if you don't think you are a geek yourself, then if you are one or not depends on the view of the people around you, presuming you believe that how people around you see you and threat you is in fact part of who you are. So you will indeed always be the last to know (for sure) if you are a geek or not if you keep this in mind.

Now, I believe a just came a bit closer to understanding why I personally scored as a 40 % major geek... :D

I'm 15, and I think that green on black goes very easy on the eyes. I prefer red on black as an artistic choice, but green on back is the most readable. Black on white is actually very bad; it's a legacy color scheme resulting from anachronistic paper technology.

Not really.

You see there is a type of person who Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. called a Wampeater.

What Wampeaters do is teach other people how not to live, by example.

Now this is quite a sacrificial life, being for the benefit of others. Wampeaters are rarely appreciated for what they are really doing.

No matter if we call them Wampeaters, or boddhisatva's playing Misere. They are never what they seem to be. :-)

There is a card in the Tarot deck called The Hung Man. It is the most difficult card of all to define; those trying to interpret it should have spoken to Kurt.

I think it is everyone who posts in these forums responsibility to entertain there fellow members.

If we all did that, then none of us would ever be bored, we would instead be always giving to our fellow human beings, which would gain us good karma & have us born into a higher caste next time round.

You see, posting on forums can actually be part of our spiritual growth & help us down our path to enlightenment. :KS

Have you read Fierce Invalids...? I think it is by far the best thing Robbins has done. Personal taste & all that, I know. :-)

Yeah, we do, but sometimes its hard to find (good) english literature here if you know what i mean ;)

I actually just finished Fierce Invalids... about 2 months ago. It was excellent, but as you say, "personal taste". From time to time I also enjoy Christopher Moore and Jonathan Carrol, amongst others.

Not Bad Not Bad, And I think I came into this conversation at just the right time. I love Tom Robbins! I'm pretty sure I have all of his books now (mostly bought at used books stores :D ) And would actually have to say that Fierce Invalids and Still Life are my two favorite.
Still life is a very good intro to Tom Robbins book (and I have actually lost it because I've loaned it to so many people, so i'm going to have to get a second copy!)

I guess this OK for being 60 years old.

Compared to those in the same age group as you:
0% scored higher (more computer geeky),
0% scored the same, and
100% scored lower (less geeky).

What does this mean? Your computer geekiness is:

Step aside Bill Gates, Linus Torvalds, and Steve Jobs... You are by far the SUPREME COMPUTER GOD!!!

Unfortunately geek points must be deducted for your misspelling of Gallifrey.;)

I'm 15, and I think that green on black goes very easy on the eyes. I prefer red on black as an artistic choice, but green on back is the most readable. Black on white is actually very bad; it's a legacy color scheme resulting from anachronistic paper technology.

I'm 15, and I think that green on black is not easy on the eyes. That site hurts my eyes. I think the best color scheme is black on a dulled white or grey, but black on white isn't so bad as long as you aren't looking at it for a long time (And you do look at that quiz for quite a while).

You mean like copy and paste? Just use your third bottun or mouse wheel (I don't know how it is for other people)

I've got a better one (http://www.nerdtests.com/ft_cg.php?im). My result (as I am proud to show) is:

http://www.nerdtests.com/images/ft/cg.php?val=8800

Uh, I actually scored a 100 (Computer God) on that test. There were several things I could have answered with more "geekiness", but I guess you don't have to have them all for a 100... (or maybe you could get 120 "OMG ÜBER GEEK!" ;) )

Hey, I have read a LOT of books; really I have; LOTS & LOTS & LOTS of books, & really if I had to recommend a book to other people there is only one book for the job: It was written by Tom Robbins & is called "Fierce Invalids Home From Hot Climates."

If you REALLY want to know about the ins & outs of being a geek, the above mentioned book is the one that only those who know, know about.

Beyond that, please DON'T give feedback to this thread?

& whatever you do, don't mention the name of THAT book.
