I have tried just about everything. i have tried about 5 different distros, with all different types of settings, and different bios settings, and i have dual booted with ubuntu and other linux distros before and now i can boot any live cd for nothing, and even done text based installs and still no successful boots.

Does anyone think that reformating xp will solve my problems. Cause its really the only thing i can think of anymore. I have ran vmware for all distros so its not the cds.

Booting from different devices has nothing to do with what operating system is on the hard drive. Set the boot order so that the CDrom boots first. If you still can't boot check your CDrom drive.
