Hi,
Ubuntu 8.10 64-bit generic kernel.
I accepted updates today, which had a whole lot of system header and compiler updates. After which I get repeated requests to restart my system. I have done this restart about ten times. I imagine once is usually enough.
I am a beginner at using Ubuntu, and would like some help at diagnosing what is happening. I have spend two hours searching for similar, and found mainly complaints about grammar in the request dialogue.
I tried sudo for both of:
# apt-get -f install
# dpkg --configure -a
There some inconsistencies in package lists for the apt-get, I followed the instructions, and these were cleared.
The dpkg command was silent.
The requested restarts continue unabated.
Thanks,
