I was upgrading to Ubuntu 8.10 last night and had to take my daughter to a friends house. While I was gone my dog must have stepped on my power strip and turned it off, when I returned I repowered the strip and all my laptop gives me is a kernel panic.
This is what I get right after the GRUB thingy:
[ 0.844126] Kernel panic not syncing; VFS; Unable to mount root fs on unknown - block (0,0)
I am new to linux but I really like it and I don't want to lose all my data. How bad is it screwed up and can it be fixed?:(
