View Full Version : [xubuntu] 7.10 and its security upgrades

I burnt a CD of Xubuntu 7.10 last night. This is for an older computer which is being used with Mobile Broadband and the problematic FX5200 graphics card which is still unsorted with any of X/K/Ubuntu newer than 7.10. A Vodafone driver is available for the Mobile USB Broadband stick.

I see that 7.10 had security flaws from the outset, needing immediate updates; no similar remark is made for any other version. These updates can potentially use up a lot of my monthly GB allowance, so I'm wondering if I can use a computer elsewhere to get the updates and install them from a CD I'd burn. How would I best do this?

(It seems a bit strange that 7.10 is still available (when 6.06 is but 7.04 is not) but without a supplementary iso to resolve that security issue. When you find those sites that have a long list of folders to download from for many Linux distros, whatever they're called, they usually have reams of additional files, something the Ubuntu people might think of with regard to this issue.)

Thanks.

You can use the generate package download script (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Synaptic/PackageDownloadScript) in synaptic or you can use something like keryx (http://keryx.betaserver.org/)
