Hi!

I am installing Ubuntu from a USB drive in Windows and something a bit wierd is happening...

The USB drive was built from the live CD, with a view to getting a live USB drive but that didn't work.

Instead, I decided to install Ubuntu on to a partition on the main HD from within Windows. Everyhting goes fine, but just after the install starts, it does a 650+mb download of the install files.

Is this normal? My broad band connection isn't too happy if I download large files between 4:00 and 11:00pm, so installing is proving a pain.

Is there any reason that the install cannot use the files off the USB drive?

And if there is, is there a way to get around it?

Thanks in advance,

Dave
