View Full Version : [ubuntu] Installing Enlightenment E17?

I really want to try out Enlightenment E17, but every single resource I follow, be it getting source code from subversion and compiling it or adding a repository, doesn't work.

I hear E17 is substantially different from E16, so I don't want the latter.

Thanks for your help!

(I'm on Intrepid running GNOME, by the way)

What isn't working with source code installs?

I'm assuming you are using the How-To here:

HOWTO: installation of e17 from SVN code (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=916690)

(I have tested that method on X/Ubuntu installs from Fiesty Fawn through to Jaunty and have working installs of all of them)

There are a few specific glitches that sometimes occur but all can be worked through AFAIK.

You could try "OpenGEU" live cd.
Its Ubuntu's version of E17

I was actually using an older one that was meant for Dapper, I believe; thanks a bunch for the more recent one. I'll be sure to try it out.
