Hi friends,

I have a developed a mini-kernel which is based on the most recent kernel version..I hv used gnome and would like to pack it as Live CD so that i would distribute my own Linux Distribution to friends and the persons who are in college...I would like to seek the help of persons here to DESIGN A LOGO FOR MY LINUX DISTRIBUTION..the logo should try to emphasis the following things..

1.My mini kernel named"Madhyavardhini",operates between other 2 kernels to support Virtualization kind of a thing(Actuallly not virtualization:))

2."Madhyavardhini"is a product of hard work of the Team members of The "TechXeb".(A community among our linux liking friends)

WOW! What did you use to make that? Looks like something most people would do in GIMP, but I could probably do it in Inkscape given the paths.

The logo's nice. I hope nobody objects to the fact that an Adobe Photoshop shape be used as a logo though - they have copyrighting on their shapes that come with Photoshop, but I am not sure whether it's ok to use it as a logo in a free logos, not trademarks.

I would still prefer to have a newly-made logo for my distro, not a standard shape from a world-known drawing program. If you open it up for more people to see, they might be saying, "Hey, he's got a standard Photoshop shape as his logo!" So maybe it's not a very good idea after all. In fact, if you edit the shapes so that they will not be recognizable, you will remove that resamblance enough for people not to have questions.

Great! You can add two circles in the monitor reflecting the dual kernel.

The site suggestions.

1. Front page top content - make a short 3 to 5-point list of facts of why your kernel is special. One of the top points is where you suggest to implement it.
2. A diagram of how things work in it would be great (if applicable).
3. Intellectual property notice - somewhere on the front page. Is it GPL? Is it proprietary and for sale?
4. Right panel top: Developement blog links, reflecting the progress (so that people would know the project is alive).
5. Top menu: Home, Our Partners (you mentioned some company?), About Us (the dev team), Contact Us (?).
6. I would suggest to have that top-content explanation to hang stick at the top, and at the bottom, for the teaser list of recent site pulications - blog and news entries to be displayed. If you use Drupal, that should be easy. I don't know if yo have already chosen a CMS though. From your design, it may be wordpress or Joomla. But Drupal may easily be as well.

How do you find Windows 7 ?

I am not against Windows or using it. I am not ideological about this.
It was not clear how I can help from your post. You mentioned an outline?

February 4th, 2009, 06:19 PM
Well,If u are good at designing logos and artworks, you create a rough image of the logo which has the things u mentioned in ur last post, using that,Me and our team can furthur develop it..(Beacuse our team has just one person who can create artworks and logos...i dont want to overload him, since he is working on a new icon set)

microsoft is giving the beta away for free (will stop working in august tho) at http://microsoft.com/ (goto the windows page, then windows 7, then "Download the beta"). Tho, if you are thinking about switching from ubuntu to win 7, Id advise against it :p

Yes, better be it monitor.
Windows 7 - I have heard that it behaves erratically on some software but works fine on the other. Can never tell.

But those for whom it works stable, note fast booting times, and speeds, comparable to that of XP.

The logo seems to be pretty neat, but too neat its not that catchy, no offense but I'd rather add more details into it..

chitowner2 is 100% right. No one will remember that name. Marketing is clearly not all about names, but that name is really way too long for the average user to remember.

EDIT:
edited to look just like my dream :)

Designed with photoshop CS3, in VBox. Photoshop and vbox were running really fast in 64bit :)

Maybe that is of little importance to him. Didn't he say it was for friends and family? Maybe for them the name is not much of a mouthful.

Awesome work to those of you who put stuff together!

call it mvlinux for short maybe?

Does the name mean anything in particular, can it be translated into English so we understand what sort of logo could suit it?
