**I am pretty new to this website so, a mod can move this topic if needed.**

I have Ubuntu 8.10 and a HP Laserjet 3100. Ubuntu finds it when connected to the parallel port but, when a page is sent to print it spools and then never comes out of the printer.

So, I bought a USB converter thinking the parallel port was the issue. With the USB connected, Ubuntu doesnt even find the printer!

I have gotten the Linux drivers from HP's website and those don't help.

I have done all recent updates.

I have checked the Ubuntu printer page and the linux open printing page and the printer is not listed on either website.

Is my printer compatible? Can I get it to work? Can anyone help? I need a printer...

Thank You

HAve a look at what the OpenPrinting Database (http://openprinting.org/show_printer.cgi?recnum=HP-LaserJet_3100) has to say about your printer.

Why don't you QUIT bumping -- and read the link that Cariboo provided -- it clearly indicates serious problems with getting your printer to work.

I read it.

Thanks for the help, Cariboo.

So, I guess the link pretty much tells me to hook it to a windows Machine and then network to the Ubuntu ones. '

Thanks.
