View Full Version : [ubuntu] I think I goofed

I was looking to add unetbootin and found a site that recommended I add a repository with the suffix
jaunty main universe
I did that and reloaded without stopping to realize I am using intrepid, not jaunty. Now I am being offered 854 updates totalling 456 MB. That seems more like a version upgrade than the usual stuff.
Is this an upgrade to Jaunty Jackalope? If so, how to I stop the offer. I have already changed the repository to read "hardy" and reloaded again, but the mega-upgrade offer is still there. I am NOT qualified to be a beta tester.
Or is this a run-of-the-mill upgrade that everyone using hardy is getting?
Thanks.

Did you remember to run sudo apt-get update after you made the changes to your /etc/apt/sources.list?
Otherwise, post your /etc/apt/sources.list.
cat /etc/apt/sources.list

I thought you said you run hardy from your first message!
You still have jaunty in your repos, the last line. You need to edit /etc/apt/sources.list and place a # in front of it to comment it out.

Yeah, I mentioned both interpid and hardy in that first post. Not good draftsmanship, but you found my problem anyway.
Thank you. That did the trick.
