I love your work, Lars.

My first February screenshot is actually a color modification of your "Murrine Clean Glass" theme and a modification of your Dots Emerald.

The wallpaper is called "Lightning 2" and can be found here: http://octr.deviantart.com/art/Lighting-2-111203904

I couldn't find the exact font you use in your Murrine Clean Glass theme, so I used Futura Condensed Medium instead. It looks basically the same to me.

Of course, conky is on the right side and cairo-dock is on the bottom.

Icons are Eikon.

Busy Screen
http://img213.imageshack.us/img213/9066/pantallazogn5.png

Theme: Ubux2 modified (colors)
Icon theme: Gnome-colors Brave (blue)
Font: UnDotum

Any idea? Suggestion? Thanks

Ah, and guys, I have a couple of problems :(

First, see, to get that interface I had to modify the colors of the theme, so everything is gray (including the place where the folders and files are shown, which normally is white)
I think this one makes every space where I can type in firefox or any other application look gray too, and I'd like at least in firefox not to happen.

And second, I use AWN and I activated the option to keep it down when I'm in a maximized window (firefox lets say) and when I place the pointer in the bottom of the screen, it shows up again, but sometimes, after a while, if I place the pointer it doesn't shows up... up to when I restart the system, can u help me?

Thanks in advance.

Very very nice. I kind of want info on everything about it.

This is difficult to do since I customize everything myself:

- I use the murrine-svn engine and write my own gtkrc themes.
- I also make my own Emerald theme. This one uses the close buttons of a theme called "Radial")
- Icons are both the hydroxygene icon pack and the MacUltimate Leporard buttons. (I replace the gtk-buttons in the hydroxygene with the Apple ones for my browser/file manager)
- Some icons are from the iComity for my xfce4-panel launchers.
- The xfce4-panel is using a cairo patch for RGBA transparency.
- Font is called LucidaMACBold.
- Screenlets have all been modified to use different .png and .svg images and I also edit the python scripts to use my LucidaMACBold font and change the pager's colors.
- Slim theme is also the same as my wallpaper to seamlessly go from login to desktop.
- I also use a gtkrc-2.0 for my xfce4-panel for button/font colors.
- And the conkyrc is my own custom script that I made.

..... I might upload some of my murrine-svn gtk themes one of these days.

The style should be available in the Themes and Styles Section at kde-look mate. The link that you have posted here, is a KDE screenshot link and it is obvious that its from the KDE Screenshot section and not themes and styles section. Search for Bespin in kde-look and choose the Bespin theme style option correctly!

Here (http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.php/Bespin?content=63928) is the proper link!

I'm going for a leaner and cleaner desktop this month, wanna get some work done :P

Themes. Dust Burnt
Wallpaper. Nanotubes / deviantArt
Icons. Oxygen Refit Black / a few personal edits
Apps. cairo-dock using various icons, mostly from the oxygen refit theme - many of whom I have then edited myself (most icons are way too colorful - they'd pretty much stab me in the eye every time I looked at the desktop).

I just edited some gdm theme I already had to get a matching logon.

Updated yesterday's kitschy background (http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=6658086&postcount=34), replacing the boring piece of paper with a nice turquoise plastic bag & fiddled with the conky setup, etc. Openbox, Tint2 (http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=6666969&postcount=108), Conky, Exaile, etc. etc.

P.S. No, it's not nice. Ugly as the devil, but it was fun in the making, as Mama Piraja used to say (http://www.aijaa.com/v.php?i=3520096.jpg).

Holy carp dude! Could you upload that GDM-theme for me?

Yeah no problem, be aware though that it's just a "mild" edit of another gdm theme (I think it was Arc-Human). And so I don't know if I missed something.
I just changed the background and colors of the layout. So none of the work is done by me.

Should be able to download a tar file here:

I decided to completely ditch the glitzy stuff.

xfce-dark gtk
katiola windowborder

I recently upgraded to Intrepid. My goal is to resist the temptation of having random "stuff" installed just because it might look neat.

I'm talking myself out of pixmap themes (ridiculous overhead for those). I now have a total of eight themes in my /usr/share/themes directory. I am vindicated.

Compiz.. Nope. Xfwm compositing.. eh.. maybe. No conky, no crazy widgets running.. That's my creed for this harddrive reformat.

Hey guys, where are you getting tint2 from? Looks good :)
How to install Tint2 (an easy way) (http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=6656314&postcount=4)

Quoting myself in another thread (http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=6656314&postcount=4):

FYI, tint2 can be most easily installed on Intrepid via toodumbforgentoo's PPA repo:

deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/k-belding/ppa/ubuntu intrepid main

Just add the line above to your /etc/apt/sources.list, perform "sudo apt-get update" and "sudo apt-get install tint2".P.S. That is the method and repository which I personally used, found after failing, for an unknown reason, to install by other means. Killeroid (https://launchpad.net/%7Ekilleroid/+archive/ppa) has a PPA repo from which you can install an unstable SVN version of Tint2, as I noticed through the link in his signature (see e.g. post #140 (http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=6673428&postcount=140) later in this thread).

NB! Killeroid asked me to add this caveat: (http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=6675073&postcount=153)

After tint's last stable release(0.6), the developer renamed the binary to tint2 and changed the location and format of the tintrc files and also fixed some bugs(including the "window title does not update" bug) and added new features .
The new tint binary is found at /usr/bin/tint2 and the new tint conf file is found in ~/.config/tint2/ and the config file is now named tint2rc.
Since the format of the conf file has changed, old tintrc files wont work with the svn builds of tint.No worries though, tint still ships with a default tint2rc and some sample tint2rc files(found here /usr/share/doc/tint2/examples/ ) .
So anyone who uses the svn builds from my PPA, please take notice and also read the notice on the PPA page before you complain.

Sure thing!

http://omploader.org/tMTdrZQ (http://omploader.org/vMTdrZQ)

You mean the toolbar. Right click on the toolbar and you will have an option called Toolbar Width Percent. Choose it and then right click continuously to increase the width! Otherwise you can always add this entry in your init file in .fluxbox directory. There must be an entry there already. But you can change the percentages according to your will.

session.screen0.toolbar.widthPercent: 100

hope that helps.

Heyyy Killeroid, I just notice your sig and updated my post #108 (http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=6666969&postcount=108) accordingly. Very nice! (Especially the ram in the album cover... say no more!)

Heh, thanks. Glad to be of help.
And if you could add a little notice in bold to everyone to read the notice on the PPA page before adding the repo to the sources.list
or you can summarize what I just said below.

The Eikon set has been named Eikon 2 all along. The newest version of it, which I am using in my screenshot, is a release candidate.

Just check the link in What Is In A Name's signature.

What is the name of the terminal font you use?
Of the three [fonts in the screenshot*] you probably mean My Underwood (http://www.dafont.com/my-underwood.font). More info available through the thumbnail link (or here: my Ourdesktops page (http://www.ourdesktops.com/desktop/user/A.%20F.%20K.%20A.%20Piraja)).

I just realized — or re-realized — I'm an idiot. The attached image gives a clue of what I mean.**
___

* I'm an idiot also because I read "terminal" and thought of "conky", however. The terminal font is indeed My Underwood, but in the three conky monitors you can see also LMTypewriter10 and ConkyWeather fonts. Sorry.

** What was that all about, eh? Well, I thought the strange spot that was printed in the terminal instead of the left arrow sign or whatever it's called ("<") either intentionally or unintentionally looked like an "ink stain", such as the old typewriters sometimes make. However, looking at the font table more closely I realized it's that tiny Underwood picture!

Of the three [fonts in the screenshot*] you probably mean My Underwood (http://www.dafont.com/my-underwood.font).

Thank you for this (and all the other info ;-))

I'm in love with that wallpaper. Where did ya get it? Please? :)http://abduzeedo.com/ sorry I can't be more specific but it's on there, somewhere.

Firefox, after a long uptime eats much RAM (also running vmware player and many apps for work). At log on, "only" 13% of RAM is used.
Get one of the latest 3.1 betas. Even after I've had FF open for some time, it still sits around 60-70mb.

I've been messing around with conky again and finally figured out how to display RSS feeds without a need to run scripts and put their output into conky:

Yeah, clean and black and a nice dark theme too! Brings to my mind Malevitch's "Black Square"...

Seriously, I see just black. I don't know why, but could it be that it has transparent elements, because it shows just black, even if I open it in a new tab. This has happened to me too, with an image having a transparent background, except that only the thumbnail showed black* and by right-clicking it you could see the pic in another tab or window.
____
* No, I was wrong, actually the thumbnail showed OK, but the pop-up window was just black. If you try left- and right-clicking on the "Yukon Raven translucent" thumbnail below, you get the idea.

Usually I'm a bit sceptic about the idea of having "real"* art (such as oil paintings) reproduced as desktop backgrounds, but this is good, a way to commemorate. Tasty as always, Chucky.

* Before anyone flares me for this: I don't mean that e.g. electronic art isn't real, or art. Pay heed to the "ironic" function of the quotation marks. It's just that e.g. old-skool oil paintings, figurative or non-figurative, do not usually match very well with glossy icons, Emerald themes and other eye candy. See my avatar for a confession of a snobbish aesthete.

It's called "minimalism" ;)

There really is nothing on the desktop but black and the background thing was intended as a joke or something...

Also, only 6kB for a full screenshot of my desktop in png format. Saves bandwidth ;)

Yours has a different resolution, so it can't be the same background :P

A-hah! You caught me unawares with that!

A good one, actually — if I were you, I'd put it on display at Ourdesktops.com and see the comments it gets... Not to mention the situation of someone wanting to borrow your machine for a while, just to check the e-mail.

Well, it doesn't change the fact that black is soooo last season! Malevich (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Malevich.black-square.jpg) did it in 1913.
