I'm trying to install 8.1 from CD onto a completely clean system .

The CD checks out as okay. My hard drive is formatted to NFTS (20GB with a 4GB partition). The itall seesm to run okay until the very last step when insted of gettig the liveCD screen I get a blank, black screen.

Any ideas what's going on anf hopw to fix it?

Thanks

Roger

I've now tried three downloads

2 to disk and one usinig Wubi direct to a hard drive. All do the same thing mentioned above. I get video up until the final part of the Ubuntu boot up. So I suspect that there's a driver issue somewhere.

How do I get past the blank screen?

Got passed it by unistalling compizwiz. However, I screwed something else up and decided to reboot from my CD instead of the hard driver. I hit Ctrl+Alt+F1 during start up and a whole different set of start up screens appeared that I had not seen before. I worked through them and it loaded flawlessly with all graphics.
