Update issues

To add my voice to the chorus of update complains...

I'm trying to update and the updater is hanging at:

Installing linux-image 2.6.24-23-generic

Details (last 2 lines):
Running post inst hook script/sbin/update-grub
Searching for GRUB installation directory... found: /boot/grub

And then a whole lot of hanging

Suggestions?
