Its only recently that i've gotten into using Linux distros having recently settled on Ubuntu. I understand that even a few years ago they weren't as accessible to everyone. It seems now that there is an alternative for everything. Granted a lot of it is still work in progress but i'm sure in years to come that it will have improved vastly. So how do you see Linux in 10 years from now?? I am thinking its a worthwhile investment to get into it. What does everyone else think?

Some people claim the cloud is the future.

If that's the case, Linux could be in for a huge market share boom.

But I don't really believe the cloud is the future.

Linux will most likely keep gaining market share at a slow pace.

Kde 4.x and Gnome 3.x will most likely attract more people.

Given how much Linux, and computing in general, has changed over the past 10 years, I don't even want to speculate. I'll be wildly out.

I have, however, predicted that in 5 years every city will have a wireless network, and that in 7 years home users will have no routers (or at least, as we know them currently), and instead rely on wireless mesh technology.
