When I installed Ubuntu 8.10 my graphics card (ASUS AGP-V7100 Pure 32 MB with NVIDIA GeForce MX GPU) was not detected. Neither was my Screen (SAMSUNG SyncMaster 1100DF).
Therefor I selected System > Administration > Hardware Drivers. NVIDIA accelerated graphics Driver (version 96) [Recommended] was the only choice and I Activated it. After this I selected System > Preferences > Screen Resolution and 1400 x 1050, 85 Hz and everything worked perfect.
The next time I started my PC the resolution was only 640 x 480, 50 Hz.

In order to make a work around I run System > Administration > Hardware Drivers and first Deactivate and then Activate again. After a Restart I again have 1400 x 1050, 85 Hz.

What can I do to make the PC star on 1400 x 1050, 85 Hz?
