anybody getting to www.archive.org today (http://www.archive.org)? i read an article about how it was blocked in the UK a couple weeks ago due to a single picture that has been removed, and i had never heard of archive.org, so i went to try it and although i can ping it, i can't get a browser connection. so now i'm just curious if verizon blocks certain websites, or if the server is just down. thanks.

Not reachable here either.
Edit: never mind it just took an extremely long time.

There is a heavy load on the server, it takes too long to get it loading.

Connected fine for me. No unusual wait.

If you want to know if certain ISPs are blocking the site, it'd be an idea for us all to post what ISPs we're using to (not) connect.

I'm using T-mobile in the UK.

I think it's illegal for the ISP to block certain content.
If you want to see if it's just blocked for your IP range, go to something like www.anonymouse.org and try it from there. That's how I usually test to see if websites load from my server outside my network.

And it loaded fine for me on a business internet line in Canada.

I'm using Aquiss (an Entanet reseller) - the page is not blocked, but is slow to load at the current time.

For all the crap Tiscali gets thrown at it, I have never had any problems.

One way to get around the situation where sites are being blocked or to check if they are, is to install Vidalia, (which installs & provides a GUI front end for Tor/Privoxy) & if you are using Firefox you can use the Torbutton Add-on to turn Tor on & off.

I know this is an old thread but I just wanted to state that I am in the US using openrange.net (wimax) and they seem to be blocking www.demonoid.me (http://www.demonoid.me). Haven't been able to access it since I acquired their internet service.

You could have started a new thread, instead of dredging up this old thing. Closed.
