I was exploring through the accessibility setting of Ubuntu 8.10 and changed the zoom setting to enable area zooms. The program crashed and ended up as a series of horizontal and vertical crosshatched lines. When I reboot the same thing happens after bringing up a sign in screen.

I tried to reinstall Ubuntu from a USB drive, the CD Rom drive and an external hard drive. It doesn't recognize the drives. What can I do to erase the drive and start again?
:(

I have now started the re-install and it stops with BusyBox. I don't know what it wants right now.
